Excellent @NeilFerreri1! This is exactly what I was looking for - but then for you to have this to hand you no doubt know the difficulty of designing one of these! I am a long-retired mechanical engineer - great with my hands but not too good with 2D/3D CAD, even though I used Pro-Engineer and Unigraphics in my later working years. Many thanks - this will set me a nice task for tomorrow in scaling the gear and designing an anchor to go with it.
Hi,I lasercut some gears I created using I just exported it as SVG, opened it in inkscape, and sent it to the laser, without any problems. Now, I'd like to import the gear into an Inventor Part, in order to create a drawing and a presentation view (I created all other lasercut parts in Inventor).I opened the SVG in Adobe Illustrator, exported it as a DWG file, and imported it into an Inventor sketch using Sketch > Insert > ACAD.It successfully imports the gear, but I'm unable to extrude the sketch, since it's not recognized as a closed loop, so I can't select the "profile" in the extrude window.
Svg Gear Generator
I've tried exporting it as a DXF file, simplifying the gear in Illustrator, opening it in AutoCAD first ... All with no luck. How can I solve this?Any help would be very much appreciated,Thanks, Pieter
One thing to note is that you can not export face on the gears generated by the gear generator as they will not be correct. You will have to export the tooth profile and generate a gear from that to get the correct involute shape.
This extension extends the existing 'Extensions>Render>Gear>Gear' and renders a pair of gears based on the settings selected. This is aimed to help render pairs of gears which will be laser-cut. The extension can render gear pairs based on the distance between the shaft centers (D), or a fixed circular pitch (CP) for a fixed number of teeth on each gear. It can also render a gear pair using a combination of D, CP and gear ratio (GR) to generate a 'best-fit' tooth count. The modified parameter is added as text for future reference.
